• Secure all doors and windows no matter how long or short you intend leaving your premises unattended.
• Remove all tools and implements from around the premises that may be used to assist in gaining entry (shovels, gardening tools, ladders etc.)
• Keep shrubbery trimmed that could conceal entry.
• Instal motion sensor external lighting which activates with movement at night to light up vulnerable areas of the premises.
• Have your mail and papers collected or cancelled if you are going away.
• Do not hide spare keys outside in obvious places (under the mat, in the meter box, in flowerpot near the front door). If you need to leave keys outside, ensure they are well hidden.
• Store high value items in a safe which should be hidden and secured to the floor or wall.
• Instal a security alarm designed to suit your needs, easy to operate and dependable so you use it every time the premises are left unoccupied.
• Instal a CCTV system to record any onsite activity and deter people from accessing the property.
